Well Done !
Enter into the Advent Horizon

Psalm 47 says
"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with
cries of joy. How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the
earth!"
which means
God is great and God is Good - and he is the king over all the earth. And
we were created to know him and be full of joy
And In Narnia
Aslan is the great lion who is good and kind and
king over all of Narnia - The children are full of joy when they see him
Jeremiah 7 says
"God gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my
people. Walk in all the ways I command you, that it may go well with you. But
they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn
inclinations of their evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.... they
did not listen to me or pay attention. They were stiff-necked ..."
which means
Even though we should walk with God we tend to be stubborn, to be selfish, to do
wrong things
- we drift away from him and then we stop
believing in him
And in
Narnia
Eustace was stubborn and selfish and did wrong things. He was cold
blooded. He became on the outside what he
had become on the inside - a dragon - alone and cut off from Aslan.
Isaiah 9:2 says
"The people walking in darkness have seen a
great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has
dawned."
which
means
The prophet Isaiah in the old testament saw ahead that things were going to get
better... that even though everything around
them looked dark and hopeless, God was going to do something to make things
right.
And in Narnia
Right when everything looked dark and hopeless and the
sailors' lives felt like nightmares, Lucy prayed to Aslan
and then saw a small white light - that came for them - an
Albatross that led them safely away from their hopelessness
Isaiah 9:6 says
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and
the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
which
means
On the first Christmas morning, Jesus was born - he was God coming into our
world to love us and set us free from sin
and darkness and loneliness and to bring peace to our hearts.
And in Narnia
Aslan came to Eustace, came into his world and
set him free from his dragon skin so he would not live in darkness
or be alone ever again. Eustace began to change, to try to follow
Aslan's ways and his friends noticed.
In fact, guess who will become the brave hero of the next book in the
Chronicles of Narnia - Eustace !
You didn't just find 4 bible
verses, you found the short version of the history of our world:
God created it, we messed it up, Jesus came to save us and bring us back to God.
Advent means "Arrival or Coming" - this is the season of Advent as
we look forward to the coming of Christmas. Over thousands of years
in the bible verses we looked at people awaited - they were trying to look over
the Horizon, to what was coming next... like waiting for the rising of the sun
as you look over the ocean in the middle of the night, the prophets were waiting
for the coming of the messiah, Immanuel (which means God with us).
Jesus came to us in this world as Aslan came to the children in the world of
Narnia.
And so .... you have done an amazing
job to get this far! As Aslan says "Well done!!!"
as Jesus says "Well Done!"
And now.... here is how you get your
cheesy prize:
Email the following sentence to
Narnia@fpcAmbler.org:
"Aslan is on the move"
Everyone who does will receive a cheesy prize. The person
who got the most answers first (extra credit answers will be used for
tiebreakers) will also receive 4 tickets to the movie !!!
You will receive an email back shortly!
And now for the last time, your humble
servant Arsheesh wishes you goodbye and a most excellent Christmas... perhaps I
too will try to learn more about this Aslan... to chew on these bible verses....
which reminds me... I still have this piece of meat still stuck in my teeth....
right here.... I think it is goat's meat... oh this is going to take
a while..... do you have toothpick ?.....
