Psalm 23 Part 1 - The Lord is my Shepherd
I cannot think of a conclusion that would change the direction of a persons life more, a conviction that would change their outlook on everything more than the five simple words - The Lord is my Shepherd. In this first part of our series we look at how radical it is that the number one description of God in the Old Testament is as the Shepherd

Psalm 23 Part 2 - He makes me lie down
What does it mean to lie down in green pastures and be led by still waters? Today we learn more about sheep than we wanted to know and find out that they look awfully familiar. In a culture of high speed, high tech pseudo-life, we find that the Christian life can be one of rhythm and quiet confidence.
Psalm 23 Part 3 - He guides me in paths
I keep trying to restore myself, but it never sticks. What are the paths of righteousness, and how do I get there ? It turns out God doesn't just give us the map, he walks alongside us every step of the way - and so I can say with the author of Psalm 119: I run in the path of your commands,
for you have set my heart free!

Psalm 23 Part 4 - Even Though I walk through the valley of the Shadow
Are you facing worry ?  Has your life felt like you were walking through a dark valley that seems like it will never end? This verse is the hinge that turns Psalm 23 from theology to prayer. We take an honest look at what it is like to walk through the valley and still be able to say EVEN THOUGH ...

Psalm 23 Part 5 - Thy Rod and Thy Staff - They Comfort Me
How could anyone find a rod or staff comforting? Is God more about love or discipline ? Isn't questioning authority a good and necessary thing? Then why is it that most of our modern dictators arose by doing that very thing? What does it mean to make Jesus your Lord? We look at the ways a shepherd uses the rod and the staff and discover that when it comes to Jesus - that the good shepherd stretches out his arms to hold both Rod and Staff - upon the cross - and the space between his Rod and Staff has a name - The Mercy Seat - the only place that true comfort can ever be found.

Psalm 23 Part 6 - You prepare a table before me
If God offered you a meal - would you really like what was on the menu ? What does it mean that God sets a table for David in the presence of his enemies? Is David just gloating as he eats while his hungry enemies look on? We look deeply into this verse of the 23rd Psalm as well as Hebrews 5:12-14, Mark 10:45, Proverbs 9:1-6,Matthew 26:31 and discover there a Table of Wisdom, of The Word, of Wonder, of Welcome, and of Worship.

Psalm 23 Part 7 - You anoint my head with oil - my cup overflows
Have you been feeling bugged lately? Are you butting heads with anyone? Does your cup feel like it is overflowing or does it feel like it has run dry? What does this verse mean, and what was Jesus called the anointed one? This short verse gives us insight into how to deal with difficult situations as it brings us closer to Jesus, the anointed one who offers us the cup that never runs dry - the cup of the New Covenant.

Psalm 23 Part 8 - All The Days of My Life

There are two very different ways to understand the idea that goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life - One involves the Hound of Heaven who refuses to leave us alone that we might not be alone, and the other is concept of that our life leaves a wake like a ship on the water - what does the way you live leave in your wake - do you leave blessing, goodness, and lovingkindness in your wake? Yes, or No, join us for this teaching !

Psalm 23 Part 9 - and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

What does it mean to dwell in the house of the Lord - Is David talking about the physical temple, eternity with God, or something else ? In this final sermon on the 23rd psalm, we review the psalm and conclude with this wonderful promise that tells us how we can live our lives now, and how the story of our lives will end !
