Ancient Spiritual Disciplines The HUMILITY Prayer “Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another”
1 Peter 5:5 This ancient prayer has been adapted from the work of Neil Babcox. Although easily done in solitude, it is often most powerful when someone else leads you in this daily prayer. Pray the prayer once a day (whenever it is most convenient for you). Pray it slowly, pausing after each phrase to let it sink in. Listen for and focus on the phrase that most connects to something going on in your life right now. Spend time lifting that situation up to God.
From the
desire of being praised, deliver me, Jesus.
From the
desire of being honored, deliver me, Jesus.
From the
desire of being preferred, deliver me, Jesus.

me the grace to humble myself
under your
mighty hand today,
and to
clothe myself with humility toward all I meet.
Amen.
